Beautiful Feet!

"How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"  Romans 10:15

So many beautiful stories coming out of Kenya.  The beautiful feet of those who have been called to serve are truly making an impact.

New Beginnings CBO (Community Based Organization) now has a functioning board.   The board is made up of people from different aspects of those in the community.  Including land donors, widows, school teachers, community elders, and of course SCM.  This board will help to prevent another incident like the one in the past from happening again.  They are there as a watchdog to make sure funds are not going to other sources or being misused.  It also gives the community some ownership and a say in how things should be run.  SCM will retain the final say in anything that takes place and the board is totally in agreement to this.  This board has agreed to hold the CBO in place until the NGO (the equivalent to our non-profit status in Kenya) is approved and NGO board members are put in place.   This is a HUGE step forward.

The New Beginnings school is ready and awaiting its next inspection,. Each inspection is one step closer to the school being fully register in Kenya.   Each step in the process brings the community more on board and involved with what is taking place.  It is evident that the community wants to see this succeed!  When a request was made to the parents and guardians about helping with construction to keep the costs down, the first question asked was “When can we get started?”  This school will give so many students in this area HOPE for the future. BUT most importantly, it will provide orphans and vulnerable children with an opportunity for an education.

There are many, many more opportunities opening for people to serve at New Beginnings.   If God is calling you to become ‘beautiful feet’ in Kenya, contact us TODAY!!

 Christmas In Kenya

Christmas is fast approaching. Our hope is to be able to buy each of the children living at New Beginnings, a new pair of school shoes, some candy and another small gift.  We will have an American in Kenya for Christmas to see that the children receive your gifts.  For children who have so little, this kindness means so much to them. Would you consider making a donation to make this Christmas special for a child.  $10 – $20 will go a long way to bring joy to a child this Christmas.  (Christmas giving must reach us on or before 12/15)

Join us...for the love of a child!!

 Missionary News

John M has arrived back in the states with a full job ahead of him before he heads back to Kenya.  Between making sure everything is running smoothly at his business, he is also preparing the ground work for the next step of what will be put in place when he returns.

John Z is continuing on and will celebrate Christmas and the New Year with his new family and friends in Nyasoti.  There is much to be accomplished and every day is a new challenge and a new blessing.

Both John’s feel that this time spent in Nyasoti moving the children’s center onto solid ground, both physically and administratively, is time well spent and both feel very called by God to be part of this new venture.

From Both John M., John Z, and our staff in Nyasoti, they wish you all a very blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year.  May the New Year bring you to Nyasoti to serve, too!

 From the Children

John M has brought home letters for our sponsors and I will be getting those sent out to you very soon.  One letter that I want to briefly share with you is the 2 page letter signed by 19 of the children.  They wanted me and all of you to understand the truth from them.  It states so many things that are taking place at our former center such as the child abuse, sex abuse and misuse of money.  If you would like a copy of that letter, contact me and I will copy and send it to you.

Through the children’s letters they do want everyone to know that they are so grateful for what we are doing and for rescuing them.  They wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

May God bless us, everyone!!

 Building News

Building has begun again!!  With the land issues settled and the new board in place things have begun to move forward once again.  The first water tank is being put in place.  This will harvest water for the children living at the center and those who attend school at New Beginnings.   The community has gathered to help clear the land and dig the foundation for the first on many homes that will be placed at New Beginnings.  This first house will be a multi-purpose house.  It will be used to house our director, store supplies, house some of the children AND the one room will be used as a classroom for the baby class during the day (until more classrooms can be built).  It will be a multi-purpose house that is very much needed.  As soon as that is in place the plans are to build 5 more temporary classrooms for the school.  The goal is to get all of New Beginnings children  out of the public school and into a better learning environment by the time school starts in January.  The total for this second phase of the building will cost about $9,700 to complete.

Here is the break down of costs:

1 Water Tank (includes set-up)        $  800

Multi-purpose house

$ 1,400

5 Classrooms

@ $1,500 each

$7,500

Total Phase II  $9,700

Please consider coming along side this community and commit to the building fund.   Become part of our “Heart For Children” and commit to a monthly donation for building.

  •  More deception!  The well that had been installed at SCC is now on the property of New Fake WellFake WellBeginnings.  It was not functioning so our missionaries decided to pull the top off to see what was causing the problem.  After being chased from the well and then having the well pump pulled off during the night, and those who were trying to tamper with the well fleeing in the dark, the guys finally were able to see inside the well. What was uncovered was an elaborately dug fake well.  The pit is about 20’ deep with a pipe coming into it from the water harvest tank next to the house.  This was then turned on or off to fill a holding tank in the pit thus giving the appearance of a well. The degree of deception by our former director is unbelievable.  Praise God we discovered the deception when we did.  The well is now part of a criminal investigation.  Pray for the deceiver to be revealed
  • We have now rescued over 30 children.  Continue to pray for those who are still being abused.
