An Amazing New Beginning

God is doing amazing things at New Beginnings Children’s Center.

The school opened on Sept 5 without a hitch. Within three weeks after the decision was made to begin New Beginnings Children‘s Center, God made it possible for 5 classrooms, and an office to be built. We marvel at how God also made it possible for us to hire 7 teachers, who are qualified and seem to be a perfect match for New Beginnings. When John Z felt unqualified to hire teachers in Kenya, God brought a connection with a local person who works for the Ministry of Education in Kenya and his job...hiring teachers. It went very smoothly and this person also gave us much needed insight into what we needed to do to move ahead with the registration for thLight to the DarknessLight to the Darknesse school.

There are now 10 land donors and they have been busy this past month. Their land was officially surveyed and they have already gone to the land office to change their 10 plots to one plot under the name of New Beginnings CBO .

The community has been very busy volunteering time to clear the brush for the building and clearing the rocks/boulders out of the road way leading to the new center. They started out with 30-35 volunteers coming in Aug and grew to 80-85 showing up in Sept. How amazing is our God to touch these lives in this way?

We currently have 18 sponsored children who were formerly at SCC, now residing at New Beginnings and attending classes.

If you have not been contacted about your sponsored child, keep praying, as we are believing every sponsored child will be part of New Beginnings. God has been so faithful!! The children are coming and asking for help! We will not turn them away

NBCC School News

Only God could make it possible for what was a dream and an idea the beginning of August to come to pass by Sept 5th. This is when the doors opened to New Beginnings Christian School in Nyasoti, Kenya. The children were excited to join us and the teachers seem to be chosen by God. Seven teachers were hired to cover 2 baby classes (we have over 50 children in the baby class), nursery class, pre-unit, and grade 1. Two of our teaching staff will currently serve at the nearby public school. Our older children are attending there until our classrooms are ready. Over 200 children have registered. We are limiting our numbers so that the children will receive a quality education. First Day of SchoolFirst Day of School

Some of the children will pay a reduced rate for tuition but all sponsored children will attend for free. The guardians of children waiting for sponsors are asked to contribute something. They are giving things such as food, firewood or time, for the children to attend. The students arrived with high hopes as they met the teachers and saw the new desks and blackboards.

The first inspection passed with a 94% out of 100%. We are on our way to becoming a registered school in Kenya.

Please pray for the teachers, the students, and all involved.

A Church is Born At New Beginnings

A new church has begun at New Beginnings. In light of the fact that there are so many "Christians" in Kenya that do not seem to understand following Jesus, John Z has (at the request of the community) begun pastoring a flock at New Beginnings. They started out meeting in the office, by the third week they needed to move to one of the classrooms because of space. There are currently about 100 people involved with the Nyasoti New Beginnings Chapel. Please pray for these people as they come to know and understand Jesus and His love and what it means to walk in His steps.

Pray for John Z as he works tirelessly to bring the Good News to these people who want so desperately to learn.

Could God be calling you to help disciple these believers?

Building News

New Beginnings Christian School began with 5 new temporary classrooms that were built in 3 weeks time. An office for the teachers was also finished and the community voluntarily cleared the land for the building and for a play yard, plus made a new road to the center. What a true blessing it is to be working with the community and not a single person. We are being blessed in so many ways as we serve this community.

During Sept a kitchen area was also added so that our cooks would have a place to prepare food for the children of New Beginnings. Volunteers build the roadVolunteers build the road

Our next goal at New Beginnings is to build some homes for the children. These will be mud style homes that will be very comfortable for the children and much more affordable. They will fit into the community and will also meet with all the required building codes for New Beginnings CBO/NGO. Currently we need to build 5 houses. We are still working to secure estimates for these homes.

We also need to move forward with the classrooms. We hope to have 4 more temporary classroom built before January 2012. These classrooms will cost $1,500 each.

Can you help us to Build For Their Future?

Pray for funding for the building to come swiftly. We know God can provide!!

Any donation you can give will help provide hope for these children in need in rural Kenya.

All donations are tax deductible!

Child of the Month

Meet Victor!

Victor is 12 years old and lives in Nyasoti, Kenya.

Victor was rescued from our former center and is currently living at New Beginnings. He is in grade 4.

Victor’s father died from Malaria.

Victor came to New Beginnings from SCC, asking for help. He is doing well since he has arrived and has adjusted to his new family very well.

Victor likes to play soccer, the color yellow and his favorite subject is English.

Pray for Victor’s health to remain good and for someone to become his new sponsor.

Prayers Answered for Solomon

Many of you have been praying for Solomon. Solomon injured his leg in 12/10 while he was in the care of SCC. What was then a scrap became an inflamed, chronic skin ulcer larger than a 1/2 dollar, by the time we arrived in July. Solomon walked the 6 miles to visit us with nothing but a piece of dirty gauze, held on by silly bands, to protect it. Lauren (one of our missionaries) cleaned the wound and we took him to a nearby hospital for care. He was put on antibiotics and givSolomon's leg nowSolomon's leg nowen pain meds (since it was very Solomon's leg in JulySolomon's leg in Julypainful) and was told to have it cleaned everyday. If it did not heal in 2 weeks, they would consider a skin graft so that Solomon would not lose his leg. We gave his uncle (who took him in, to be sure he was cared for properly) the money to take him to have it cleaned each day at the local clinic. Praise God, Solomon’s wound is now almost healed. We know that a lot of this is due to the prayers of so many who cared about Solomon. Solomon is grateful to finally be free of pain and to know he will not lose his leg nor will he need surgery. He is now able to play soccer again. Praise God!!

Solomon is now under the care of NBCC.
