Building For their Future (BFF Club)

Praise God!! He has accomplished amazing things in and through His body (the church). So many of you have donated to make the building projects for the children a reality. In the past 2 years we have finished 5 temporary classrooms (that currently house grade 2-7). God has provided the materials for 2 houses (that house 50 children total). A well has been installed at the site of the children’s center (so that the children no longer need to carry water for a mile). And currently new classrooms are being built at the site of the new children’s center. The first 5 classrooms are underway. These will be partially brick and partially metal structures and have a firm foundation. So far we have had $7000 come in towards the classrooms. It costs about $7000 for each classroom. Once the first five are built, the next 6 classrooms will go up. These will house grade 3– grade 8.

This is a huge undertaking but we believe that with God all things are possible. We know that God loves these children so much and He cares about their future.

In order to see the building completed, we need your help. If God places it on your heart, would you consider becoming part of our BFF Club. We all know that BFF stands for "Best Friends Forever". But it also stand for "Building For their Future". Could you become a best friend to these beautiful children and provide them with not just a hand out, but a hand up. Commit to $10 or more per month and be part of our BFF Club. Join us, for the love of a child.

What can you do with $10 a month? Not much...OR...A LOT!!! Help us find 600 people who will join in this effort.

Expedition Kenya 2010 & 2011

Our Expedition 2010 Team has begun it’s training, and planning is in full swing. What an awesome team!! I look forward to growing with each of you as we serve the children in Kenya.

I thank God for each of you who have stepped out in faith to make this possible. God is going to do amazing things!!

Please keep this team in prayer for provisions, health, and spiritual issues that might come their way. Often the enemy will try to deter those whom God has called and we need your prayer covering for this team.

The 2011 Expedition is now forming. Many of you have been requesting that we get the dates and applications out early so that you can have time to plan. If you are interested in joining the 2011 team, now is a great time to apply.

The dates for the 2011 team are below:

July 12 – July 26 (2 weeks)

July 27-Aug 10 (2 weeks)

July 12– Aug 10 (1 month)

* Must be 13 by trip date

**The first 2 week trip must be filled before the second 2 week trip opens.

All trips are directed by a project director from the US. Training is provided by SCM.

Get your applications in early and start planning for 2011!!

    Widows

Many of you know that each year one of the things our mission team will participate in The team with some widows and their childrenThe team with some widows and their childrenduring their time in Kenya, will be ministry to widows. What an awesome opportunity this is. To visit these women who are struggling to provide for themselves and often to care for orphans that have been left behind.

What we do is hike into the bush and take them some basic supplies. We spend a little time sharing with and praying for them. This is such a powerful ministry to some very needy women. It costs about $20 for the supplies we take to each widow. If you feel led to contribute towards any supplies for the widows, you can make your donations of any amount and mark it "widows".

Thanks for considering becoming part of the this trip by your contribution.

    God bless.

ATTENTION SPONSORS!!  Gifts for sponsored children

If you sponsor a child and would like to send a small gift for them, with the mission team, we will be collecting these gifts until June 15th.

The gifts should fit in a gallon size ziplock bag and weigh approx 3 lbs.

Some ideas for gifts are: small cars and trucks for the boys, small dolls or stuffed animals. Jump ropes, coloring books, crayons, note pads, pencils and pens, inexpensive jewelery, hair bands, nail polish, small balls, jacks, purse, bubbles, etc. Keep it small and keep it simple.

A great thing to include is a personal note and picture. The children love to be able to connect with you in this special way.

If you do not sponsor a child but would like to send a gift, feel free to do so, we will be sure that a child without, will get the gift.

    God bless you all!!

    Building News

The building of the new classrooms continues. The children are so excited as they see the foundations being laid and the walls starting to go up. This project means so much to the children, as it will mean an end to the 2 mile walk they currently make each day, to go to school. This walk is particularly hard on the younger children and they will be the first ones to relocate to the new classrooms at the children’s center. Plus, their classrooms are in a building that is in great disrepair. It is truly not healthy for these small children to have to be in them every day. Current classroomsCurrent classrooms

    Child of the Month

    Meet Clinton!!

    ClintonClinton

Clinton is 5 years old and lives in Kenya.

His mother died during childbirth in 2007. Shortly after her death, his father remarried and now his father and step mother do very little to care for the children. He has 5 siblings whom have all found sponsors but Clinton is still praying for that special person for him.

Clinton is in the nursery class at school.

Please pray for Clinton’s health and for him to find a sponsor, as he is in great need.

    Magunga/Nyasoti News

The well installation was finally completed about the middle of April. PRAISE GOD!! For fresh clean water that is available at the children’s center without the mile long hike. Thank you to all who helped by prayers and contributions.

The second school semester for 2010 begins May 3. Pray for God to provide all that is needed for a successful term and for good health and clear minds for the children.

The weather has been cooperating and it is looking like they might have another good growing season. Praise God for the needed rains. Continue to pray for the right amount of rain at the right times.
