It has been an honor for me to spend 6 months of this past year at New Beginnings, to make sure that your support for the children is being used in the best possible way. It has not always been an easy year in Kenya with political unrest, drought, and famine.
As I think back through these last 6 months there has been one resounding thing that I have felt God saying to me. It is the scripture that I ultimately used for our mission team this past year and it has given me the strength to continue throughout the year.
"I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:14
This has truly been a year to PRESS ON.
When our vehicle broke down, and left us stranded almost every time we took it out. I PRESS ON!
When we had to deal with lack of staff. I PRESS ON!
When the well broke down and we had no water. I PRESS ON!
When we had to watch, heartbroken, as some of our children made poor choices. I PRESS ON!
When some of our supporters had to leave us, for various reasons. I PRESS ON!
Things are not always easy and it is easy when things are tough to want to walk away, but when we know that we are doing what God has called us to do, we PRESS ON, not for ourselves but for the higher call that He has called us to. WE PRESS ON!
When a child comes to New Beginnings and has food to eat and a bed to sleep on. WE PRESS ON!
When you see a child come to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. WE PRESS ON!
When you watch a young person, in disbelief, learn that they do not have to worry about tuition for school, they can just go and learn. WE PRESS ON!
When you know that each of these children depend on YOU. WE PRESS ON!
When you have a neighbor in real need and $10 can literally save a life. WE PRESS ON!
When you watch a deaf child begin to hear. WE PRESS ON!
We will continue to PRESS ON to that goal that He has called us. We hope that YOU will PRESS ON too. Now is not the time to give up or give in, it is the time to PRESS ON.

New Beginnings welcomed Velma this past month. Velma is 13 years old, and her brother, Kevin, has lived with us for about 5 years. We welcome Velma and pray that God will touch her heart and bring change in and through her.
We have some other children waiting for sponsors before they can become part of New Beginnings.
We also have some living at New Beginnings who are not fully sponsored, to send them out would be difficult for them and for those at New Beginnings.
These children are in desperate situations. Is God calling you to help?

Our schools are currently on holiday break. Our 12th grade students just finished their final exams and are awaiting the results.
While the holidays is here, New Beginnings is very active. Our teachers have returned for 2 weeks to hold special classes for the children. These include some life skills classes, Bible studies, and career and job option classes. This is a relaxing but informative time for our children.
Our building has stopped awaiting funding for the future.
There is so much we hope to do to build for them this year.
We can't do it without YOU!!!
In 2018 we have a goal to build a new ECD(Early Childhood Development) section. Currently our ECD classrooms are falling apart and they must be torn down for the next section for our primary classroom. We have designated a area away from our primary classroom that will be fenced and will keep our youngest students safe. They will have their own playground and latrines. We want the classrooms to be a great place for our youngest children to begin to learn and be safe at the same time.

Our goal to get a new/used vehicle is a great need and we have placed it as part of our building plans because this vehicle is essential in the building of New Beginnings. This vehicle will be used in the transportation of basic food and supplies (including building supplies) for New Beginnings.
It will also be used to transport children and missionaries. We are not looking for a new vehicle (only new to New Beginnings). We are really in need of an older model Land Rover/Land Cruiser with an extended body which we think will be able to handle the rough terrain in our area. We are hoping that the projected cost will cover any needed repairs, insurance, etc. Please consider a donation to help us with this great need.

Meet Ivad!
Ivad is 7 years old and will enter 2nd grade in January. She is a twin. Her twin sister lives with her mother. Ivad and her brother live at New Beginnings. She likes to play games and she likes going to school. She is a great student and often takes the top position in her class. Ivad loves her life at New Beginnings. Ivad has been without a sponsor for a couple years and will soon be sent to live at home, if we do not find a sponsor to help her.
